α、β Surface Contamination Monitor LPSCM-A10

α、β Surface Contamination Monitor LPSCM-A10

α, β Surface Contamination Monitor LPSCM-A10 uses a ZnS-coated plastic scintillator probe to detect contamination on surfaces and wipe samples. It has a 170 cm² probe area and an adjustable measurement time from 1 to 999 seconds. Results are displayed in cps, Bq, and Bq/cm². Shortcut keys allow easy switching between α, β, and α+β modes without changing the probe. Our α、β Surface Contamination monitor includes a test stand to protect the device and offers an optional calibration accessory. It can detect contamination on worktops, floors, walls, clothing, and skin in radioactive environments and is suitable for both fixed and portable use.

Commonly used in nuclear plants, laboratories, and decontamination zones.

α、β Surface Contamination Monitor LPSCM-A10 FAQ's
  • Labtron Surface Contamination Monitor LPSCM-A10 is designed to detect and measure radioactive contamination on surfaces like worktops, floors, walls, clothing, and even skin. It is commonly used in nuclear power plants, health agencies, environmental monitoring, emergency response, and other radiation-sensitive environments. Its precise detection of alpha and beta particles helps ensure safety in workplaces dealing with radioactive materials.

  • Labtron LPSCM-A10 uses a ZnS-coated thin film plastic scintillator detector, with an optional GM tube detector. This advanced detector is highly efficient in identifying both alpha and beta radiation. For example, it achieves a detector efficiency of ? 33% for Americium-241 (? source) and ? 35% for Strontium-90/Yttrium-90 (? source), making it reliable for accurate surface contamination monitoring.

  • The device displays results on an easy-to-read LCD screen in units like cps (counts per second), Bq (becquerel), and Bq/cm². It includes a built-in nuclide library with 26 nuclides and supports auto-calibration and reset. The LPSCM-A10 can store over 1000 measurements, and data can be easily transferred using USB, with optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication available. This makes the monitor ideal for long-term field use and reporting.

  • Yes, Labtron LPSCM-A10 is designed for ease of use. It has a lightweight and compact build, weighing only 0.87 kg (with batteries), and features a user-friendly interface. It allows one-handed operation and includes shortcut keys to switch between alpha, beta and alpha + beta detection modes without changing the probe. The device also comes with a protective test stand and offers over 35 hours of continuous use with 2 AA alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries.

  • Labtron LPSCM-A10 operates reliably under a wide range of environmental conditions, with an operating temperature from -20°C to 50°C and humidity tolerance up to 90% (non-condensing). It has both audible and visual alarms for safety alerts, background deduction settings, and a repeatability of less than 10%. These features, combined with durable design and advanced contamination detection, make it suitable for both fixed installation and portable field operations.
