Labtron BOD Analyzer measures oxygen consumption by microorganisms decomposing organic matter in water over time. Their automated sampling capabilities carry out testing without a personnel to monitor. They are equipped with mercury free pressure difference methods to detect pressure changes safely and accurately. Labtron’s BOD Analyzer’s BOD is calculated by measuring the dissolved oxygen (DO) in the sample at the start and after 5 days. The difference in DO represents the oxygen consumed by biological activity. Samples are incubated at a constant temperature (typically 20?°C) in a dark environment to prevent photosynthesis, which could alter oxygen levels.

Labtron’s BOD analyzer measures the Biochemical Oxygen Demand of a water sample, which indicates the amount of oxygen required by microorganisms to break down organic matter in the water over a specific period, usually five days. BOD is a key indicator of organic pollution in water. High BOD values suggest a large amount of biodegradable material, which can deplete oxygen levels and harm aquatic life.
Labtron’s BOD Analyzer can measure samples ranging from 0 to 1000 mg/L. The BOD Analyzer can test a variety of water samples, including municipal waste water, industrial effluents, surface water, groundwater, industrial sewage, environmental monitoring and other fields water measurements.
The sample to be tested is cultured in the BOD Analyzer at a constant temperature of 20 ± 1 ? for five days, the water sample in the bottle will undergo the biological oxidation reaction at a certain stirring speed. The organic matter is transformed into oxides of nitrogen, carbon and sulfur, and the carbon dioxide gas is absorbed by sodium hydroxide. The oxygen in the upper space of the culture bottle continuously supplies the oxygen demand of the microorganism in the water sample, and the pressure difference is generated in the culture bottle. By detecting the height of mercury in the glass tube, the BOD value of the water sample in the specified measurement period can be calculated.
