Our anaerobic jar LAJ-B11 attains anaerobic condition within 4 hours. However, some anaerobic jars are designed for rapid oxygen removal and can create an anaerobic atmosphere within 15-30 minutes. While others, may take longer especially if they are larger in size or if the catalyst or hydrogen concentration is lower.
Our anaerobic jar creates an oxygen-free environment by using a gas-generating system that produces hydrogen and carbon-dioxide. A palladium catalyst inside the jar then facilitates the reaction between the hydrogen and the residual oxygen to form water, thus removing the oxygen. An airtight seal prevents external air from entering the jar. This process usually takes between 30 minutes to few hours.
The anaerobic jar LAJ-B11 is used to culture obligate anaerobes like Clostridium, facultative anaerobes like Escherichia coli, aero tolerant anaerobes like Lactobacillus and microaerophilic anaerobes like Helicobacter pylori.
