  • To clean a Labtron’s Acrylic Glove Box, use lukewarm water and a clean, non-abrasive cloth. If needed, a mild, non-abrasive detergent can be applied. Avoid using alcohol or strong cleaning agents, as they can damage the acrylic material. After cleaning, dry the surface with a clean, dry cloth. For internal cleaning, ensure the surface is thoroughly dried before reintroducing moisture-sensitive materials, and consider purging the cabinet with nitrogen for several hours.

  • Airlocks, or transfer chambers, are designed to minimize nitrogen loss and prevent contamination when moving items in and out of the Acrylic Glove Box. They are typically mounted on the sides of the glove box and can be purged with inert gas to maintain the internal environment. Proper use of airlocks ensures that the glove box's atmosphere remains stable during transfers.

  • Maintaining low humidity can be challenging due to factors like leaks, insufficient purging, or the use of moist nitrogen. To address this, ensure that the nitrogen used is dry, continuously purge the glove box during use, and verify that your hygrometer can accurately read low humidity levels. Additionally, sealing all junctions with appropriate materials can help prevent moisture ingress.

  • Yes, our Acrylic Glove Boxes are not suitable for use with certain chemicals, especially those containing ammonia or alcohol, as these substances can damage the acrylic material. For applications involving such chemicals, consider using glove boxes made from materials like stainless steel, which offer better chemical resistance.

  • Labtron’s Acrylic Glove Boxes are lightweight and offer clear visibility but have limitations, including susceptibility to scratches, lower chemical resistance, and potential damage from high temperatures. They are also not suitable for applications requiring vacuum conditions. For more demanding applications, materials like stainless steel may be more appropriate due to their durability and broader compatibility.
